Carlton S. Mitchell named President And
CEO for Families First New York
Poughkeepsie, NY –
The Board of Directors of Families First New York appointed Carlton S. Mitchell as President and CEO. This is an interim appointment. Mitchell will lead the organization during its search for a permanent President and CEO.
Mitchell’s credentials include over 28 years of executive-level experience in the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. His most recent experience has been in serving as a management consultant, providing expertise in the areas of government affairs, media relations, board development, strategic planning, performance measurement, program design, and financial management. Mitchell has previously served as Executive Director of the International Center in New York, Inc. and as Deputy Commissioner for Community Development in the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development. He holds a Master’s in Business Policy from Columbia University Graduate School of Business and earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from Howard University.
Mitchell is affiliated with the New York City-based Support Center for Nonprofit Management, where he completed training in Interim Executive Leadership. The Support Center refers trained Interim Executive Leaders to organizations undergoing leadership transitions. An Interim Executive Leader maintains the organization while it assesses its current and future leadership needs and searches for the next Executive Director. The Support Center coordinates its efforts in the Mid-Hudson region with the Council of Community Services of New York State.
